sure sweetie, thanks for the suggestion!
No one knew yet. Beth wanted to keep it secret until the right moment, and Daryl agreed. He wasn’t really eager to have everyone on him asking what had happened, when, where, etc.
So the fact that Glenn figured it out really bothered him.
Glenn was a perceptive guy. He could tell when you were lying or hiding something. He’d figured it out in the beginning, followed by Daryl threatening the kid to keep it to himself. “Don’t go shootin’ your mouth,” Daryl had warned.
Glenn couldn’t help but tease Daryl, especially since it was supposed to be a secret. Whenever Beth entered a room, Glenn would make eye contact with both of them, a not-so-subtle smirk brightening his expression. When the group ate, Glenn purposely would offer Beth some of his food, turning slightly to Daryl and saying, “Is this okay with you, buddy?”
It was maddening, having Glenn know. Daryl assumed he’d gotten more serious since Maggie had entered his life, but it turned out kid still joked around when he could.
Beth and Daryl were hiding out, sitting together in an opening near a creek, away from the group. Glenn appeared, having brought a bucket for water, and spotted them. Immediately, Daryl started getting up. “Well, well,” Glenn said, drawing near them. “Cute.”
"Come on, Glenn," Beth sighed as Daryl stood and brushed the grass off his pants. "We were having a nice talk."
"Ah, young love," he said reminiscently. "I remember being like you two. Before I was married, man, I was just like you kids."
Beth rolled her eyes and Daryl slung his bow on his back. She reached up, taking hold of his hand and urging him to sit back down again.
"No, yeah, by all means, Daryl, don’t let me ruin your moment," Glenn said. "I just came to get some water." Daryl watched as Glenn picked up his bucket and headed for the creek. When he calmed down a bit, he removed his bow and sat back down with Beth.
Glenn passed them on his way back to camp. He wagged a finger in their direction. “Don’t get too crazy now, kids.”
"Asshole," Daryl muttered under his breath.
